Reply with quote | #2 | From what I have read it will be years till it is approved for weight loss, if ever. Has some of the same side affects that got Acomplia banned at a decent therapeutic dose. Also seems to have some nasty digestive side effects.Guess we have to keep on looking.... |

mountaingal, I am still waiting to see if Tom has sent you my email address. If he doesn't get back to me (or you) I guess I will try posting it on this forum. |

Reply with quote | #6 | lynden, are you the same person as mountaingal or someone different?
I personally am truly disappointed (not nearly strong enough term) to see acomplia abandoned. It worked/works for me. I have lost 40 lbs. When the pill gave me jitters, I just cut the thing in half. No difference in weight loss. Duh, as they say. Meanwhile, I can eat like a normal person (I never did binge but cdn't keep weight down on a 1200 cal. diet with three days at the gym and another cycling) and am not constipated for the lst time in my life. I've been on it now 2 1/2 years and was on it 2 yrs before in one of the studies. In between, I gained all the weight back plus 15 no matter how little I ate and how much I exercised. I was prepared to take this stuff for life, tho on a lower dose (half a pill every other or third day, for instance). |

Reply with quote | #7 | I too am disappointed. I have lost 35 lbs over two years and have had little side effects. In the last 3 months I have been really on track and able to control my eating.
I only have enough pills till end Jan. and fear I will gain the weight again when I stop. A disaster as I am just getting my blood sugars in a normal range.
If only the pill could be used on subjects doing well. The weightloss health benefits must count for something?
I am intreged you cut you tablet in half and felt the same results. I may try this.
Has anyone looked into Reductuil? I am sure I did when it came out but can't remeber why I rejected in favour of rimonabant?
Good luck too all

Isn't reductil the drug that prevents you from digesting fat? That is far different from what Acomplia does. As for cutting the pill in half, I got myself a pill splitter. I am going to try half a pill every other day if/when I get down to my goal, which is only 10 or so pounds away. I agree, there are plenty of drugs on the market with horrifying side effects. The bottom line, I truly believe, is that in today's world it's okay to be bipolar...nobody blames you. But weight is still considered a moral issue. So they figure you can do it another way and why chance the side effects. But not everybody CAN do it another way. In my case, I never did overeat. This pill just somehow allows my body to work like normal. Meaning I can go on a diet (1500 cal.) and lose weight. Before, that amt of food would make me gain. Btw, there is a site out there that doesn't require prescriptions. I don't know if what they sell is real. I do know there are three different Indian 'generics' out there and that at least two of them do work (Slimona and Riomont). Slimona is a weirdly hourglass shaped blue/green pill and Riomont is a round white pill. Riobant looks the same...round white. don't know about it, tho. |

Reply with quote | #12 | Managed one last prescription from the Doctor in Dec and got the local chemists last box. So will run out finally in March now.
I hope all my weight does not pile on again. Started 85kg now 67kg almost two years later. My aim is 63kg. I hope I can keep on target.
Has anyone tried hypnotherapy?
Good luck to all,

Reply with quote | #13 | Generic Acomplia (Slimona for one) is available by perscription from http://www.betterlifepharmacy.com. It is manufactured in India and I think it works as well as Acomplia. I have never had any problems taking either the Acomplia or any of its generics. Weight loss holding.

And what happens when the prescription runs out? I haven't figured how to get a new one since it is no longer approved in either Europe or the US. What have you done. |
